Patrick Burke
Patrick Burke is a passionate marine scientist dedicated to understanding and preserving our oceans' delicate ecosystems. With a background in marine ecology and fisheries biology, Patrick is driven by a deep curiosity about the mysteries of marine life and a commitment to advancing scientific knowledge for the betterment of our planet. Patrick completed his undergraduate degree at the College of Charleston, SC, USA followed by a Master of Science at the Universiteit Gent, Ghent, Belgium then a Master of Research at Macquarie University. He completed his PhD at Macquarie University in 2023 studying the ecology of two different species of sawsharks around Australia. With over ten years’ experience in the marine science realm, Patrick has assisted and collaborated across a range of projects and disciplines generally aimed towards elasmobranch research. These projects include reproductive biology, sensory biology, behaviour and learning, movement and trophic ecology and physiology.
